Robin S. Reed, you’ve always been the first to say yes to any wild ideas I pitch at you. I asked you to join our nonprofit board, you said hell yes. I asked you to brainstorm growth ideas, you say hell yes. I asked you to co-emcee a national conference with me with zero notice and zero prep, hell yes. Even in some of the hardest times I’ve had, you have always been there to support and stand up for me when I was doubting myself. You wrapped your arms around me, my family and our entire community as if we were all family. You defended us, lifted us and connected us. You shared your vision of a world that wasn’t divided by hate but connected by love. What a beautiful view of the future that we all need to work to achieve. But Robin, we see the future you painted so vividly for us and we will get there and finish what you started.
Your words have always been unifying and your actions always kind. I’m grateful to have been able to live beside you and experience what true generosity looks like. Robin, my friend, I’m so heartbroken that you’re not here, but your legacy will live on. Rest in power my friend.
