A note to you, Robin S. Reed;
I heard about your passing and saw the post from the Black Chamber of Commerce and the rush of emotion over me was completely overwhelming. It can’t be real. Didn’t I just see you?!?
Now that I have sat in the emotions for a bit, I feel a loss of words and yet so many emotions I wish to share with you.
You’re a leader in a way that’s real.
You’re a supporter in a way that’s authentic.
You’re at the forefront of teaching companies how to be better.
You know how to make people feel valued and seen.
When I asked you to speak at my event last year, I threw it out there with fingers crossed and full of hope that you would say yes.
And you said yes!
Not only did you say yes to speaking, you worked your vacation around the event when you realized the dates slightly conflicted. You had already said yes to speaking and you committed to that word. Instead of skipping the event that you had already said yes to, you rescheduled your flight to fly out at midnight after my event.
That gesture probably cost you a few bucks from your bank account but I hope you know that it meant the world to me. You could have passed on the event and moved on with your vacation on time and you didn’t. You didn’t have to do that and you did.
You committed to your word and you committed to me. 🩵
You believed in what I am growing and committed to being part of that. You saw the value in what I am doing and helped validate this direction I’m in.
You are a different type of leader and human… you are you. You are Robin.
Thank you for being you.
Thank you for being the leader that this community needed.
Thank you for seeing value in me and making me feel worthy.
Thank you for believing in me and others.
Thank you for being you.
